The town Lauchhammer lies in the western Lower Lusatia. It is an amalgamation of five earlier villages and historically strongly influenced by industry and lignite mining.

By train

Lauchhammer is connected to the Cottbus – Falkenberg (Elster) railway line. The hourly trains stop in 1 Lauchhammer-West. There are also direct connections every other hour Leipzig.

In the street

Motorist drives from Dresden and Berlin on the A 13 to the exit Symbol: AS 17 Ruhland and then change to the B 169. After 5 km, turn right to Lauchhammer-Mitte.

By bicycle

The city can be easily reached via some of the regional bike paths.

When coke was produced, water containing phenol was produced, which was cleaned in the towers with the help of bacteria. The coking plant itself is no longer there. Only the towers have been preserved and can be viewed as part of the International Building Exhibition IBA-See. One of the towers is accessible and offers a view of the surrounding land from two glass pulpits at a height of 22 meters. They are a unique building in terms of industrial history and are also nicknamed "Castel del Monte der Lausitz".
  • Castle Church - The baroque castle church is the only building that is part of the complex of the Mückenberg Castle is still preserved. Outwardly, it looks more like an orangery. She does not currently have an organ. Its only bell dates from 1569.
