Schönwald in the Black Forest is a municipality in the region Black Forest Baar. It is located in a high valley on the Rhine-Danube watershed and is considered a health resort with a healthy climate.

It is said that in 1737 a cuckoo call from a Black Forest clock sounded for the first time, the inventor was a Franz Ketterer from a small farmhouse in Schönwald. In his honor the festival hall of the village bears the name "Uhrmacher-Ketterer-Halle". And of course Schönwald is also responsible for the German clock route
The village of Schönwald is surrounded by a number of hamlets and farms. The neighboring municipalities Schonach, Triberg and Furtwangen are in the Schwarzwald-Baar district, the municipality to the west is its neighbor Simonswald in the district of Emmendingen.

- 1 Reinertonishof. The courtyard was built in 1619 in the style of a Heidenhof built. It was rebuilt after a fire in 2006, the outbuildings are still original.
- 1 Adlerschanzen, The ski jumping facility consists of 3 small jumps K10, K20 and K30. The larger K85 ski jumping jogger is out of order.
