Schonach is a community in Middle Black Forest.

The municipality of Schonach is located on the northern edge of the Schwarzwald-Baar district, which borders the Ortenau district and the Emmendingen district here. The Rohrhardsberg district also belongs to Schonach.
The neighboring municipalities Triberg and Schönwald belong to the Schwarzwald-Baar district. Simonswald and Elzach are in the district of Emmendingen, Hornberg in the district of Ortenau.

- The 1 first world's largest cuckoo clock in the Untertal, it was manufactured on a scale of 50: 1 and was the largest example among the cuckoo clocks with a length of 3.60 m and a height of 3.10 m. In the meantime it has been surpassed by a clock in Triberg.
