The city of Sept-Iles is located on the north shore of the Gulf of St.Lawrence, approximately 230 km to the east of Baie-Comeau. Following a merger in 2003, the current city of Sept-Îles is made up of the former municipalities of Gallix, Moisie and Sept-Îles. The territory of Sept-Îles is crossed by the Sainte-Marguerite river and the Moisie river. It circles the entire Bay of Seven Islands, a deep-water bay facing the Sept-Îles archipelago. There are six sandy beaches: Gallix beach; Val-Marguerite beach; Monaghan beach; Ferguson Beach; Routhier beach; Lévesque beach. The Kachiwiss Lake area has been the subject of mining exploration by the company Terra Ventures due to the presence of uranium oxide in its soil.
The population of Sept-Îles is 25,686 according to the 2011 census, with a community of approximately 3,000 Innu who live on the Uashat mak Mani-Utenam reserve which is located in the city.
Understand
Sept-Îles is not a big city; being relatively recent, its cultural and historical attractions are rather limited. On the other hand, with its several sandy beaches, forests as far as the eye can see, countless bodies of water, and privileged sites for hunting and fishing, Sept-Îles is a paradise for lovers of the outdoors.

You can also board the bus in Montreal and transfer to Quebec City, or from other stops along the way (between Quebec City and Sept-Îles).
By hitchhiking
Hitchhiking from Montreal to Quebec is very easy; many people make the daily journey between the two cities.
Between Quebec and Sept-Îles, there is a single main road (Route 138) which runs northeast along the St. Lawrence River. Therefore, hitchhiking is quite simple. People who travel on this route will more often than not travel long distances since the towns and villages are far from each other. On the other hand, you have to keep in mind that making the journey from Quebec City with your own car takes around 8 h . If we add waiting times to that, getting to Sept-Îles can easily turn into a trip of 2 days or more. Wild camping is very easy to accomplish during the summer (apart from the fact that there are a lot of mosquitoes), but in winter, when temperatures can be around -30C, camping and even waiting on the edge of the river. road can become quite dangerous. However, by leaving Quebec (or even Montreal) very early in the morning, it is possible with a little luck to reach Sept-Îles in a single day.
