Sithonia (Σιθωνία) is a peninsula of the Halkidiki.

Sithonia is the middle peninsula of the Halkidiki, placed between Kassandra and the monastic republic of Mount Athos. With its slender and elongated shape, like its conserelle, Sithonia is characterized by a continuous succession of coves and coves that now host white sandy beaches, now large pebble beaches often surrounded by pine forests. Sithonia is a paradise for campers but there is no shortage of hotels from luxury to budget ones.

What see

  • Toroni (Τορώνη) - At the southwestern end of Sithonia, Toroni was a colony of Chalcis inEuboea. Excavations in 1975 conducted by the Australian Institute have unearthed traces of Lykithos, the ancient port of Toroni, which stood on a low promontory. The research, also extended to the seabed, proved that the place was inhabited since the Bronze Age.
