The Spreewaldvorland is located west of Cottbus and north of the A15 federal motorway. It is rural and offers alternating forest and field landscapes. There are no major tourist attractions. Travelers traverse this small area on their way to the Lower Spreewald and Cottbussers can be found here on their little excursions into the surrounding area.

Church of Advertise
  • The three villages can be found in the north Briesen (Lower Sorbian: Bjazyna), Guhrow (Lower Sorbian: Gory) and Advertise (Lower Sorbian: Vyerbno). They are all on the popular bike path between cottbus and Castle (Spreewald).
  • If you want to explore the almost sleepy central region, you will find small villages here, such as Gulbs (Lower Sorbian: Gołbin) , Ruben (Lower Sorbian: Rubyn), Papitz (Lower Sorbian: Popojce), Kunersdorf (Lower Sorbian: Kosobuz), Milkersdorf (Lower Sorbian: Górnej), Brahmow (Lower Sorbian: Brama) and Babow (Lower Sorbian: Bobov).
  • In the south of the region, around the very busy federal road B115 are located Kolkwitz (Lower Sorbian: Gołkojce), Dahlitz (Lower Sorbian: Dalic), Zahsow (Lower Sorbian: Cazow), Limberg (Lower Sorbian: Limbarg), Krieschow (Lower Sorbian: Kśišow) and Eichow (Lower Sorbian: Dubje) as well as the small one Wiesendorf (Lower Sorbian: Naseńce) south of the motorway.

Some of the villages mentioned also have small, separate districts that probably no tourist will see that quickly.

The country road crosses the north of the region L51, the cottbus and Castle connects, the region. The B115 connects in the south cottbus and the one in the south of the Spreewald Vetschau. The federal highway A15 has no direct departure here. Connection consists in Symbol: AS 3 Vetschau or Symbol: AS 4 cottbus

Briesen Church

Churches

  • 1  Evangelical Church Briesen, Dorfstrasse 16. Tel.: 49(0)35606-40334. The Briesener Kirche, a Gothic brick church, was built in the 15th century. If you have the time, you should take a tour. You can admire medieval frescoes from 1486 and a carved Baroque altar from 1701.   • 2  Protestant Church Advertise, Am Anger 2. Tel.: 49(0)35603-70384, Fax: 49(0)35603-759078, Email: . The Werben church is one of the oldest in the region. It was first mentioned in 1346.   • 3  Evangelical Church Papitz. The silhouette of the Papitz village church can be seen from afar. The late Gothic building from the 15th century externally resembles the Werben church, which also has a striking, crenellated tower.   • Kackrow Doll Museum, Kastanienallee 16, 03099 Kolkwitz-Kackrow. It shows dolls, dolls prams, dollhouses, kitchens and shops as well as other toys from the period from 1880 to 1970. Every year at Christmas there is a special exhibition. The popular Koselmühle
  • Kolkwitz Clinic. - The building was erected at the end of the 18th century and served as a lung sanctuary for tuberculosis sufferers. The beautiful building, reinforced with turrets, stands in a nicely designed park and later belonged to the Carl Thiem Clinic in Cotbus.
  • Bunker KBF GS31 (At the technology park). Tel.: 49(0)355-28530, Email: . - The bunker served as the command post of the 1st Air Defense Division of the GDR since 1967. Today it is a military history museum which is run by some friends of the bunker. Every third Saturday of the month between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. a guided tour of the bunker is offered.

It is located south of the small town of Glinzig, which belongs to the municipality of Kolkwitz. The Koselmühle has a restaurant and a beer garden.
