St. Christina (Italian: Santa Cristina, Romansh: S. Cristina) is a place in Val Gardena, in South-Tirol, Italy.
background
St. Christina is located at 1,428 m in the geographic center of Val Gardena in South-Tirol and is the ideal starting point for skiing in winter and quiet hikes in summer. The surrounding mountains of Monte Pana, Col Raiser and Seceda offer a variety of possibilities Dolomites to experience and "hike" up close.

The weather in St. Christina and throughout Val Gardena corresponds to the climate at these altitudes. The summers are mild but never hot. Winters are characterized by lots of snow and sunny days.
language
In St. Christina, Ladin is spoken in addition to German and Italian. This ancient language emerged from the fusion between the ancient Celtic Rhaetian culture with that of the Romans, and therefore goes back to the time of the Roman settlement of the main Alpine ridge. It has striking similarities with the Old Castilian, Provencal and Catalan languages and is still spoken today by the population and even taught in schools. There are also various publications in Ladin (books and newspapers), and Ladin programs are broadcast daily on radio and television.
getting there
By car: Coming from the north follow the Innsbruck-Brenner-Klausen route (motorway exit Klausen / Gröden). From here you can reach in 20 minutes Ortisei and a few kilometers further on St. Christina.
By train: The next train stations are in Brixen, Klausen and Bolzanowhere Intercity and Eurocity trains stop (train timetables at www.trenitalia.com). From there you can get there by bus or taxi Val Gardena (for bus timetables see www.sii.bz.it).
By plane: The nearest airports are in Bolzano, innsbruck, Verona and Munich.

Churches and chapels
- 1 Parish church: The bell tower and roof approach date from the Romanesque period, while the choir, to which a polygonal ossuary was added in the 16th century, dates from the Gothic period.
Castles and Palaces
- 2 Fischburg: It lies on the border between St. Christina and Wolkenstein and was built between 1622 and 1641 by Engelhard Dietrich von Wolkenstein-Trostburg in the Renaissance style. It has been in the possession of the Baron Franchetti's family since 1926 and is therefore not open to the public.
