St. Johann in Tirol is a market town with 9,425 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in Austrian federal state Tyrol in the Kitzbühel district, St. With around 520,000 overnight stays per year, relatively evenly distributed between summer and winter, Johann in Tirol is one of the major tourist destinations in Tyrol

St. Johann in Tirol is located in a wide basin between the mountain range of the Wilder Kaiser and the Kitzbüheler Horn in the center of the Leukental. The Kitzbühler Ache, the Reither Ache and the Fieberbrunner Ache unite here to form the Großache, which flows into the Chiemsee in Bavaria as the Tiroler Achen. The town center is 660 meters above sea level, the highest point is the Maukspitze with a height of 2,231 m. The municipality covers an area of 5,915 hectares.
St. Johann in Tirol (670 meters above sea level) is located in the middle of the Leukental, which extends from Jochberg to near the Bavarian border. With its 9,425 inhabitants, St. Johann is an economic center, and with its 4,500 guest beds in a wide variety of categories, it is also a tourist center of the region.

With the St. Johann sports airfield, the place has the second largest airfield in Tyrol (ICAO code LOIJ). The St. Johann Aviation Club is located there with its own flight school as well as opportunities for glider and model flying, ballooning and parachuting.

Alpine skiing
Below the Harschbichl lies one of the most beautiful family snow areas in the Kitzbühel Alps. 60 kilometers of slopes on the northern flank of the Kitzbüheler Horn offer runs of all levels of difficulty, and a total of 17 lifts bring ski fans up.

- Cycling World Cup. In August, over 3500 participants from 53 nations fight for the coveted medals.
- The longest dumpling table in the world. The dumpling table - in September - is over 300 m long, 5 music groups, 18 festival hosts, 23 types of dumplings and a total of almost 25,000 dumplings.
- Big farmers market. St. Johann farmers market, a colorful event with delicacies from the farmers' kitchen, real folk music, etc.

- Int. Tyrolean Koasalauf. More than 2000 starters from 20 nations ensure a Koasalauf, Austria's largest cross-country race. More than 2000 participants put on their cross-country skis for the “Koasalauf”.

St. Johann in Tirol is the shopping center in the Kitzbühel district. Trade and commerce are not only important on the Loferer Bundesstrasse, but also in the pedestrian zone of the historic town center and in the other streets of the inner town there are numerous shopping opportunities and corresponding restaurants. From March to November there is a weekly market with regional products on the main square every Friday.
