St. Johann in Tirol is located in a wide basin between the mountain range of the Wilder Kaiser and the Kitzbüheler Horn in the center of the Leukental. The Kitzbühler Ache, the Reither Ache and the Fieberbrunner Ache unite here to form the Großache, which flows into the Chiemsee in Bavaria as the Tiroler Achen. The town center is 660 meters above sea level, the highest point is the Maukspitze with a height of 2,231 m. The municipality covers an area of ​​5,915 hectares.
