Stomio (Στόμιο) is a small port and seaside resort at the mouth of the Pineios River in the Thermaic Gulf in Thessaly, which as a district to the political municipality Agia belongs. The Stomio used to be part of the municipality of Eurymenes in the prefecture Larisa, this name comes from the ancient settlement Eurymenae here. This settlement at the foot of the Ossa massif was probably in the area of Stomio, but could not yet be definitely located.
background
The little place Stomio lies at the mouth of the Pineios River, which flowed through Thessaly, into the Thermaic Gulf. The village at the foot of the Ossa - massif has developed into a seaside resort that is still mostly visited by Greeks, plus tourism from the former Yugoslav Republic North Macedonia increased.
The wide sandy beach with the gently sloping bank lies in the area of the Pineios estuary, it is partly reached via bridges over the meandering Pineios arm, and there is eager fishing in the fresh water. The place itself extends from the beach up the slope, with the renewal of the access road that follows Kokkino Nero - Velika - Kato Sotiritsa - Agiokampos continues, the access conditions have improved.
The small town south of Pineios was after the annexation of Thessaly to the Kingdom of Greece and before the annexation of Macedonia, which had been part of the Ottoman Empire (i.e. in the years 1881-1912), the northernmost Greek port.

By plane
The nearest international airport is the one in Thessaloniki (approx. 1½ hours by car), but many are also about Athens travel to Greece.
By train
The nearest train station is the 1 Rapsani stop at the railroad - Route Thessaloniki - Athenswhich is served about every two hours (1h 20min. from Thessaloniki),
By bus
In the street
Since the continuous motorway connection between Thessaloniki and Athens is completed, the approach to the Tempe valley has changed, which leads to irritation and turning maneuvers for some motorists. The highway 
now leads without exits between Leptokarya and Euyngelismos through the whole Tempe valley resp. bypasses the latter with tunnels.
The old "Εθνικη Οδος" (Ethniki Odos, i.e. national road) 
will continue toll operated and has exits to all places along the course. The passage of the Tempe valley is blocked for trucks over 18t and with more than two axles. To get to Stomio from the north, the A1 so at 
75 Leave Leptokarya and don't be frightened, even if on the supposed main street 2 Toll booth shows up, it does not go back to the autobahn, but soon it branches off 1 Main road in the direction Stomio - Kokkino Nero - Agiokampos coming from the north immediately behind the bridge over the Pineios.
Coming from the south you have to take the motorway A1 at 72 Leave Euanggelismos and follow the main road "Εθνικη Οδος" (Ethniki Odos) through the Tempe valley to the junction Stomio consequences.
By boat
The port is only used by fishing and sport boats, no regular ferry connections.

- the beach is reached in the northwest section over two pedestrian bridges over the brackish arm of Pineios (Πηνειός) just before its confluence with the sea. Wide sandy beach with a shallow slope into the deep water, therefore quite suitable for children, access through the sand (

- the local Greek Orthodox Church 2 Agios Nikolaos lies on the slope in the old town center
- a 3 chapel (with photogenic blue roof) is located in the lower part of the village at the beach access
- The recently renovated monastery is well worth seeing 4 Agios Dimitrios (open Tue 9-12 / 6-8pm, Thu 9-12 / 6-8pm, Sat 7-12am, Sun 7-12 / 6-8pm; observe the usual dress code!).
Omolio
- the place 5 Omolio is bypassed by the modern road, in ancient times the settlement existed there Homolion.
