Geographical notes
Svolvær is located in the Lofoten islands, on the south coast of Austvågøy; it faces the Norwegian Sea to the south and is topped by the mountains to the north. The main economic activity of the city is linked to cod fishing in winter and salmon fish farming. Tourism is becoming more and more important, as Svolvær is an optimal starting point for tourists visiting the islands.
