Sæby is a small town on the Kattegat in North Jutland. It belongs together with the northernmost city DenmarkSkagen to Frederikshavn.

By plane

The nearest airport is in Aalborg (IATA code: AAL). This is served by, among others, Copenhagen and Amsterdam. From Aalborg Airport you can take the E45 in 40 minutes Sæby.

By train

Sæby can be reached from Hamburg in around 9 hours. From there you can take the IC with a change to Fredericia and or Aarhus in a regional express of the NJ Frederikshavn. Regional buses take around 15 minutes from there.

In the street

You can get there by car E45 above Aarhus (178km) and Flensburg (350km). It's about 505 kilometers from Hamburg. Skagen (40km) is via the primary rod P40, Hjørring (33km) is via the primary rod P35 reachable.

By boat

Sæby only has a small maritime sports port, so the town has no ferry connections. From Frederikshavn (10 km) can Gothenburg in 2 hours and Oslo can be reached in 8 hours. From Hirtshals (60 km) you can reach Kristiansand in 3 hours, Larvik in 4 hours and Mountains in 16 hours.

Tourist Attractions

  • Fruen fra havet. A 6 meter tall statue of the artist Marit Benthe Norheim in the harbor.
  • Sæby Church. Church from 1470. It contains frescoes from the time the church was built.
  • Minibyen. A city in miniature, shown as it was in 1900.
  • Sæbygård Castle. Castle built in 1576, which is now a museum.
