Te Puke is a city in New Zealand. Te Puke (pronounced Te Puki) is the kiwi fruit town of New Zealand. Hundreds of kiwi plantations line the roadside and many workers are hired during the harvest season between April and October. In addition to this opportunity to earn money by picking kiwis, Te Puke only offers a few pubs and a few shops. On the other hand, you have to calculate about a 20 minute drive to get to the next beach. The big kiwi, which marks the way to a rich souvenir shop on the roadside towards Whakatane, is quite popular with tourists.
