overview

The nation of Korea was occupied and annexed to the Empire of Japan from 1910 until the end of the second world war in 1945. Soon after that the Korean peninsula was divided between the bronze forces. and a devastating civil war that began in 1950, ending three years later. It has since remained divided into the communist North and (since 1980) a multi-party southern state.

The two countries have been in a state of "ceasefire" for the past 60 years, yet the relationship has always been tense and the risk of a devastating war is always a possibility.

People in Semi-Korea are Korean, and are ethnically homogeneous throughout the peninsula. No other peoples have historically been associated with life here, although recent times have seen entry and exit into Korea.

Although the two countries' cultures share similar legacies, the different socio-political and cultural paths that South Korea and North Korea have followed for 50 years make the two countries vastly different and you must join them. refer to the Wikivoyage pages for South Korea and North Korea for details about these two countries.
