By bus

There are two bus stations in Udon Thani. Most long-distance buses stop at the centrally located newer one 3 Bus terminal at the CentralPlaza shopping center and not far from most hotels. The older one 4 Bus terminal 2 in the west of the city is mainly served by regional buses. If you get to the latter, you have to take a tuk tuk (motorcycle rickshaw) to the city center for about 80 THB or you wait for an irregularly moving Songthaeo (converted van with benches) for 15 THB.

From Bangkok's northern Bus station Mo Chit There are several buses per hour to Udon Thani between 5:50 am and 10:30 pm. The journey time is just under 8 hours, the price varies between 445 and 517 THB depending on the car class. Society Nakhonchai Air runs from their own bus station in the north of Bangkok six times a day (four of them at night, departing between 9.30pm and 11pm) to Udon Thani. The price is 466 ("Gold Class") or 622 THB ("First Class").
