Understand
Umbria is located in the middle of central Italy, and does not touch any of the seas surrounding the Italian peninsula.
It contains mainly hills and small plains, but to the east there are also mountains belonging to the Apennines. The highest peaks, in the southwest corner, reach 2448m (Cima del Redentore).
Almost all of Umbria is part of the basin of the Tiber, the river of Rome, which flows through the western part of the region.
