The political community is made up of numerous small villages around Sumvitg originated.
It is steeped in history 1 Teniger bath in the Val Sumvitg: the one created around a gypsum source containing Epsom salts Spa was first mentioned around 1580, around 1670 the bathing room was expanded to a bathhouse and a little later the chapel Nossa Dunna della Neiv built. In 1881 the first three-story spa house and in 1892 a dépendance was built as inexpensive accommodation for less affluent guests. At the beginning of the 20th century the system was expanded to include the two "forest houses", electricity from a small power station was used for heating and lighting, and the beginning of the First World War put an end to the flourishing bathing tourism in the valley, which was still poorly developed in terms of traffic. After the pool had repeatedly struggled with poor occupancy and tight finances, a comprehensive modernization with a contemporary new building took place in 1971/74, when the spa guests were already absent after the first season the buildings of the bath, which have been protected from decay, are now vacant and unused. The avalanche safety in question in winter and poor access roads are likely to have played their part.
The spa is an example of early tourism in the canton of Graubünden, which began with spa and spa tourism. It was not until the post-war years that the first ski lifts were built in the Surselva and the farming villages began to transform into winter sports resorts.
