  • 15 days: Belarus, Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Russia (from 1 July 2015)
  • 21 days: Philippines
  • 30 days: Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia

All other nationalities require a visa in advance to visit Vietnam. You can apply for a visa online.

By airplane

Vietnam's main international airports are located in Hanoi and onHo Chi Minh City. Both airports are served by numerous flights from major cities in East Asia and Southeast Asia, with some intercontinental services to Australia, Europe and the United States.

Other international airports are located in Da Nang, Vine, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc, though flights are limited to those from neighboring Asian countries.

There are direct train services from Nanning and Beijing, at China, to Hanoi. Most require a change of trains at the border in Pingxiang / Dong Dang, wasting about four hours at the border for immigration.

The Kunming-Hanoi line has been closed by landslides since 2011. There are no train connections to the Laos or Cambodia.
