Villars-sur-Ollon is a locality in the vaudois region Chablais and is a district of Ollon.
background
The district Villars-sur Ollon sits enthroned with the neighboring town of Chesières on a terrace above the Rhone Valley, where Ollon lies in the flat valley floor. The village on Col de la Croix developed into a tourism and winter sports destination.
The Chemin de fer électrique Bex-Gryon-Villars (BGV) received a concession in 1897 and as early as 1898 a first section could be used as a tram with adhesion operation 1 Bévieux to be opened. The cogwheel sections of the meter-gauge railway over Gryon after Villars could be opened in 1901, the neighboring town 2 Chesières was connected to Villars by a tram line in 1906, but operations here ceased in 1963.
In 1911 plans were drawn up to continue the cog railway on the 1 Col de Bretaye, to the intermediate station 2 Bouquetins it was opened in 1913, but only completed in 1937 to the terminus in the ski area.
Today Villars-sur-Ollon is known as a winter sports area and increasingly also for summer tourism Col de la Croix over to the winter sports resort Les Diablerets is closed in winter, the Bex-Villars-Bretaye Railway then leads as the only connection up to the Col de Bretaye and ends in the ski area.

By train
Of the SBB line through the Rhone valley one climbs in Bex on the meter-gauge trains of the Bex-Villars-Bretaye Railway to reach the Villars every hour.
By bus
over Chesières and 3 Huémoz there is a bus connection to the Transports Publics du Chablais to Aigle in the Rhone Valley; seasonally there is a bus connection via the Col de la Croix to Les Diablerets guided.
In the street
From direction Geneva or Lausanne coming you take the autobahn 
above Montreux in the direction of Valais and releases them at the exit 
Aigle. On the canton road

Alternatively, you can stay on the motorway to Bex, leave it at the exit there and cross the town of Bex.
