Wegberg is a rural medium-sized town in the Heinsberg district, with 27,745 inhabitants in 40 districts.

The city, with a history of more than 1000 years, was mentioned as early as 966 in a document under the name Berck. Rivers, forests and streams determine the landscape in many places and so Wegberg is part of the Schwalm-Nette Nature Park. Numerous mills have their location on the Schwalm and its tributaries to this day and also give the city its name Wegberg in the valley of the mills given.

Siemens test center

  • Wegberg-Wildenrath test center Siemens has built the largest test track for rail vehicles in Germany on the former military airfield near Wegberg-Wildenrath.

Grenzlandring

  • Grenzlandring The districts of Beeck, Beeckerheide, Gerichhausen, Harbeck and Wegberg are located in a 9.005 km long oval road, the so-called Grenzlandring. The Ringstrasse, completed in 1939, became famous in the years 1948-1952 as the fastest race track in the world. On August 31, 1952, a serious racing accident occurred in a car race, in which 13 were killed and 42 injured. The racing operation was then discontinued on this race track.
