Because of the city is a small town in Heckengäu. The former Free Imperial City is around 30 km from the state capital Stuttgart away. It is known as the birthplace of the astronomer Johannes Kepler. The remains of the medieval city fortifications are worth seeing, as are the lively carnival customs and the museum of the fools' guild.
