The state-approved resort Weinböhla is at the northern exit of the Elbe valley basin, east of Meissen and at the transition to the Grossenhainer care. Weinböhla is not a town, but with around 10,000 inhabitants it was considered the "largest village in the GDR".

getting there

The driver drives from the direction of Dresden on the right side of the Elbe along the "Saxon Wine Route". Travelers from Berlin take the A 13 and drive by Symbol: AS 21 Radeburg to continue on the S 177 via Moritzburg to get to Weinböhla.

The station on the Berlin-Dresden long-distance railway was closed in 2002. As a replacement, a new stop was opened on the Leipzig-Dresden long-distance railway on the western edge of the town. RegionalExpress trains on the Dresden – Leipzig and Dresden – Cottbus / Hoyerswerda routes stop here every hour. Tram line 4, the longest tram line operated by Dresden's public transport company, also ends in Weinböhla.
