Ål is a small town and a municipality in Buskerud county in Norway. The small town is located in Hallingdal east of the Hardangervidda and thus in one of Norway's most famous winter sports regions.

getting there

By plane

The nearest airport is in Fagernes, from there it is about 100 km by road (via Fv51 and Rv7). Fagernes Airport offers connections several times a week Oslo Gardermoen, during the ski season (end of December to April) there are also weekly connections to the London Gatwick Airport. Arriving from Fagernes by public transport: bus to Gol, Train to Ål.

Ål is a stop at the Bergen Railway. Of Oslo the journey takes about 3 hours.

The Rv7 through Hallingdal runs past the outskirts and connects Ål with Gol in the east (25 km) and Geilo to the west (26 km). From Oslo it is 215 km via E16 and Rv7, from the ferry port Larvik on the south coast 276 km through the Numedal (Rv40 and Rv7).

By bicycle

National cycle route 4 from Oslo to Mountains leads from Gol through Ål and on via Geilo to the eastern edge of the Hardangerviddawhere to get the ride on the Rallarvegen continue over Finse and Myrdal continues across northern Hardangervidda. Oslo - Ål approx. 240 km.
