Aderklaa is a small village and its own municipality in Marchfeld, right on the Vienna city limits. The village is known regionally for the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, which was built in the 1960s in a modern style.

background

Aderklaa is a typical rural village like in the Marchfeld happens often.

Traces of settlement from the Neolithic, Bronze Age, Hallstatt and La Tène times have been found in the municipality. The Aderklaa settlement was first mentioned in documents in 1250. During the second Turkish siege of Vienna in 1683, the village was devastated. On June 5 and 6, 1809, Aderklaa was a scene of the Battle of Wagram, in which Napoleon's French troops defeated the Austrian lord. Previously, Napoleon's troops had to be in the Battle of Aspern-Essling on 21/22 May 1809 suffer a defeat.

Despite its proximity to Vienna, Aderklaa is not a settlement with pronounced suburbanization activity and has largely retained its village character.
