Aichtal is a small town on the eastern edge of the Schönbuch, it was created in 1975 by merging the three parishes Aich, Grötzingen and Neuenhaus.

The city of Aichtal is located on the Aichthat at Holzgerlingen rises, flows from west to east through the Schönbuch and at Nürtingen flows into the Neckar. A large part of the area of Neuenhaus belongs to the Schönbuch Nature Park, Aich and Grötzingen are on the southern edge of the Filder plane.
Neighboring communities are Filderstadt, Wolfschlugen, Nürtingen, Neckartailfingen, Schlaitdorf, Walddorfhäslach and Waldenbuch.

Aichtal invites you to go hiking. Here are a few suggestions:
through the Bombachtal to the Uhlberg
A short (9km) circular hike with start and end in Aich
- Starting point for the Aich-Bombach bus stop
- we go north on the street "Im Dietner"
- after 200m the street becomes a footpath and bike path and leads to the Bombach under the Aichtal bridge
- After 3km we turn left into the street to Uhlberg and go up, past the Schützenhaus
- at km 4 the Uhlberg is reached; from the tower you have a good view of the Alb (Opening hours)
- on the western side of the gardens we descend steeply to Neuenhaus, where we can stop
- it goes back along the Aichwhere we share the route with the cyclists
Schaichtal
Ins Schaichtal: Starting point at the Neuenhaus-Kirche bus stop
from Grötzingen to Nürtingen
A longer (16km) circular hike that starts and ends in Grötzingen
- Starting point at the Grötzingen-Ortsmitte bus stop
- we go to the war memorial, then the footpath "Jägerstrasse" to
- Friedhof (alternative starting point for drivers, or Schönblick bus stop) and
- continue on the "Höhenweg" to the historical signpost in the direction of Esslingen
- then we follow the old Poststrasse, which now leads over meadows, until shortly before Wolfschlugen
- at km 4 we turn south and walk towards the Jägerstand on the Benzberg
- then left to the Föllbachsteg
- on the Föllbach a very beautiful forest route leads us to Ulrichstein (km 6)
- then we follow that HW 3, cross the Aich and go east to Oberensingen
- in Oberensingen we come to the Roman estate, the Villa Rustica past
- after 10 kilometers we can in Nürtingen stop in the beer garden
- back it goes over the Galgenberg and the Open air stage to Grötzingen

Hohenzollern cycle path
The 190km long Hohenzollern cycle path from Esslingen to Lake Constance leads along the Aich.
