Waldenbuch is located in Schönbuch on the northern edge of the nature park. The city was first mentioned in a document in 1296 and has been part of Württemberg since 1381.

Bus line 86 goes to Stuttgart Rohr (S-Bahn) and Vaihingen (Stuttgart U-bahn / Stadtbahn), bus line 760 goes to Boeblingen. To the train station Nürtingen lead awkward connections with buses and trains.
