Waldenbuch is located in Schönbuch on the northern edge of the nature park. The city was first mentioned in a document in 1296 and has been part of Württemberg since 1381.

Waldenbuch has no direct connection to the rail network. In Leinfelden (Bus line 828, 15 minutes) you can reach the S-Bahn with direct connections to Stuttgart, in Dettenhausen (10 minutes by bus 828) the Schönbuchbahn with direct connection to Boeblingen, in Tübingen (bus line 828, 30 minutes) you can reach the rail network of the DB and the Hohenzollerische Landesbahn. Bus line 86 goes to Stuttgart Rohr (S-Bahn) and Vaihingen (Stuttgart U-bahn / Stadtbahn), bus line 760 goes to Boeblingen. To the train station Nürtingen lead awkward connections with buses and trains.
