The Filder are a landscape on the southern edge of Stuttgart in Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Regions

The Filder plateau is dated to the north and east Neckar surrounded, in the south it is the river Aichthat the Filder from Schönbuch separates. The Filder belong partly to Stuttgart, but mostly to the district of Esslingen.

The Stuttgart Districts of Birkach, Degerloch, Dürrlewang, Fasanenhof, Heumaden, Hohenheim, Möhringen, Plieningen, Riedenberg, Rohr (at the transition to Glemswald), Schönberg, Sillenbuch, Sonnenberg and Vaihingen are just as much on the Filder as the Esslinger Districts of Berkheim and Zollberg. The Stuttgart district of Büsnau and the Esslinger Exclave "Spitalwald" to the west of it, however, as well as the Leinfelden-Echterdinger district of Musberg, are already the Glemswald, a northern branch of the Schönbuchsto assign.

Also border directly on the Filder plain Kings and the Nürtinger Districts of Hardt and Oberensingen, all of which are located on the slope of the western bank of the Neckar.

  • The Filder are cut through by the A8 in an east-west direction. The connection points are on the Filder Symbol: AS 52 Degerloch, 53a Flughafen / Messe, 53b Plieningen and 54 Esslingen.
  • In a north-south direction, it crosses the motorway, which was initially developed like a motorway B27 the Filder towards Tubingen.
  • The journey by train usually leads over Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof, in individual cases via Esslingen.

  • On the 3rd weekend in October, this is celebrated in the towns and communities in the Fildern Herb festival.

The area is for that Filderkraut known, it is a variant of the pointed cabbage. The leaves are firmer and stronger than other types of cabbage and are mainly used to make sauerkraut. The harvest time for the cabbage is in October, the sauerkraut can be enjoyed all year round. On the 3rd weekend in October, the Krautfest is celebrated in the Filder region.

The Real thing is a specialty of the region. Similar to a tarte flambée, a thin dough base is topped with an onion and cream topping, diced bacon and herbs and then baked.
