Altena (North Brabant) is a community den Netherlands. It consists of the places 1 Werkendam,2 Sleeuwijk, 3 Woudrichem, 4 Rijswijk, 5 To water, 6 Andel, 7 Veen, 8 Wijk en Aalburg, 9 Genders, 10 Dussen, 11 Hank, 12 Nieuwendijk and 13 Almkerk with the municipal administration.
Other goals
- The northern part of the National Park De Biesbosch is located in the municipality of Altena. This is a wetland and swamp area made up of countless islands.

By train
There is no train station in Altena. But you can go to with the Intercity ’S-Hertogenbosch drive and take the bus from there (see below). If you want to travel by ferry, go to the train station Gorinchem drive and embark there for Sleeswijk or Woudrichem.

1 Bus station de Kromme Nol. As well as from other places inside and outside the municipality, there are a lot of bus routes going into the whole municipality. You can get there from the train station, for example ’S-Hertogenbosch with several bus routes.

The Fort Giessen
Woudrichem
- 3 Sint Martinuskerk. The main church of Woudrichem made of red bricks.
- 4 Waterpoort. The "water gate" is the city gate that separates the city from the port.
- 1 ´t oude Raedhuys. The former town hall is a historic stepped gable building and is now used as a restaurant.
- 5 Windmill Nooit Gedagt. Dutch windmill with gallery, houses a shop and can be visited.Open: Thu-Fri, Sun: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sa: 100: 00-17: 00.
To water
- 6 Go on casting. A fort in Giessen that is surrounded by water. There are still cannons in many places.

- Bike tours are ideal in the flat landscape. Also trips can be done by bike.
- The National Park De Biesbosch can be explored, for example, by kayak. These can be rented on site.
