What see

Center

  • 1 Church of San Giorgio, Via Alciato 10, 39 031 630218, @. Located in the historic center of Alzate Brianza, the church of San Giorgio dates back to the 15th century. Inside there is an interesting cycle of frescoes (15th-16th century), some of which were detached in 1977 and moved to the parish house.
  • 2 Church of Saints Peter and Paul, St. Peter's Square, 39 031 630218, @. The church, now dedicated to the patrons of Alzate Brianza, is located outside the city center in a place where there was an ancient pagan temple presumably dedicated to Minerva, a Roman divinity linked to the war. Part of the current building dates back to the 7th-8th century, when Lombard communities dedicated to the cult of fighting saints settled in the area, such as St. Peter, to whom the church was originally dedicated. The church also stands in the center of a triangle, at the top of which are the churches of San Giorgio (located in Alzate), San Michele (located in Anzano) and San Martino (located in Orsenigo), all dating back to the same Lombard period. At the beginning of 1600 the church was enlarged and renovated, but the current architecture dates back to 1846 based on the architect's design Giacomo Moraglia.
  • 3 Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Rogoredo, Via Santuario 290, 39 031 630218, @. The sanctuary was built in 1686 in a place immersed in a wood of "rogore" (hence the name Rogoredo) or oaks, which have now disappeared. Originally there was a low wall with a fresco of the Madonna, which was later transformed into a chapel and then into the current sanctuary. Since the chapel is located along an ancient road that crossed the Terrò valley, oral traction tells of wayfarers pardoned after invoking the Madonna. The original fresco dated 1533 and restored in 1752 by Antonio Odisio, a Piedmontese artist, is located inside the sanctuary, behind the main altar. The fresco depicting the Madonna with Child is in a style that can be traced back to the popular one, and although simple it appears very refined. Over the centuries the sanctuary has become a point of reference for the faithful of the upper Brianza, Comasco and Lecco areas. The Madonna of Rogoredo is traditionally celebrated on 8 September, the date on which the Secular Fair is organized.

Fabbrica Durini hamlet

  • 4 Church of Sant’Andrea (The Fabbrica Durini parish), Via Parini 1, Durini Factory, 39 031 6300218, @. The origins of this parish date back to 1600, but the current building was built in the early 1900s.
  • 5 Villa Castello Durini, Via Parini 209 (Durini factory), 39 331 872 9297. Simple icon time.svgOn reservation. The Villa Casterllo Durini, located on a hill that allows a 360 view of the surrounding landscape, was born around an ancient Roman tower (5th century), and then took its current form through a succession of interventions until the end of the 1800s. he building is surrounded by a park of about 300 hectares which also housed an ancient vineyard. Among the guests of this ancient residence there were Giuseppe Parini, Gioacchino Rossini, Giovanni Verga and the Savoys. The dining room and the chapel were designed at the beginning of the 19th century by the Milanese architect Carlo Amati.
Today the villa is used for private events, and can be visited by reservation or during specific opening days.
