Geographical notes
Comasco is the territory it looks to Como as a center of attraction, and includes the alpine part to the north, with a large northern area of Lugano lake in Italian territory, which is headed by Porlezza. It is also located on Lake Lugano Champion of Italy, an Italian exclave in Switzerland, as it is completely surrounded by Swiss territory. The southern area, between the two branches of the lake, slopes towards the Lombard plain and includes the cities of Cantù is Grass; also in this part of the territory there is no shortage of lakes: the Alserio lake and the Lake of Pusiano, which it shares with the Lecco, are the major ones.

- Alserio lake - The lake is part of the Lambro Valley Regional Park. Along the east bank is the Oriented regional reserve Eastern shore of Lake Alserio.
- Lugano lake - In the Italian part of Porlezza.
- Lake of Pusiano - Shared with the Lecco, formed by the Lambro; the little one is there Cypress island, privately owned but open to visitors: it can be reached by boat departing from the pier of Bosisio Parini.

- 2 Milan-Malpensa Airport (MXP), Ferno. The airport has two terminals (T1 and T2), the second is used for low cost flights. The bus service Motorway connects the airport with Milan central station in about 50 minutes, while the Malpensa Express it connects Terminal 1 with Cadorna station (red and green line underground) in 40 minutes. The buses of the Sadem is Motorway reach the city of Turin (2 hours), while the company Foxes make a few trips for Genoa (3 hours).

How to get around
What see
- Basilica of San Vincenzo and Baptistery of San Giovanni (in Galliano, 1 km east of Cantù). It is a pre-Romanesque religious complex, which was enlarged in the 10th and 11th centuries The Basilica of San Vincenzo dates back to 1007 and preserves important cycles of frescoes that have been expertly restored and date back to the 11th century. The church has completely lost the entire left aisle. The adjacent Baptistery of San Giovanni is one of the oldest in the Lombardy region.
- The church and the baptistery are located in a slightly isolated green area surrounded by pine trees, a location that adds further charm to the whole ancient complex.
- Basilica of San Paolo (in Cantù). It preserves some remains of the original 11th century construction, in Romanesque style, and has a very tall and thin bell tower.
- Church of Santa Eufemia (in Erba). The church was built in the 11th-12th centuries in Romanesque style, then remodeled over time. It has a bell tower with mullioned windows and three mullioned windows. Another testimony of the ancient city can be found behind the town hall, where there are remains of the medieval village

The gastronomy ranges from freshwater fish dishes from the many Como lakes (perch, trout, tench, agone, bleak) to mountain dishes (game and polenta) common to the traditional cuisine of the whole area.

The Como area has no particular wine-growing areas.
