Baja is a town on the left bank of the Danube in the county Bács-Kiskun. The city is known among others. because of the fish farming and the annual fish soup festival in July.

The city was founded in the 14th century. In the 18th century, German colonists also settled here, who helped shape cultural life until the end of the Second World War.
Baja is part of the historical region Batschkawhich, after the Trianon Peace Treaty, were largely transferred to Yugoslavia (today Serbia) fell.

- Gemencer Forest. Natural, huge alluvial forest on the other side of the Danube, where you can make extensive excursions on foot, by bike, horse or motorboat. There is also a narrow-gauge railway from Pörböly to the eastern outskirts of Szekszárd.
- Fish soup festival. Bajai Halfőző Fesztivál. Every year on the second weekend in July, fish soup is cooked over an open fire in more than 2000 kettles for over 20,000 visitors.

West of the city center, within walking distance, there are two campsites on the opposite bank of the Sugovica arm of the Danube. One in the Petőfisziget district and one in the Nagypandúrsziget district. Otherwise there are a few smaller hotels in the city center.
