Szeged, is the capital of the county Csongrád.
background
Szeged (as Cigeddin) first mentioned in 1183, but the city and surroundings look back on a much earlier history. The earliest evidence of the presence of humans can be dated back to over 20,000 years.
The city has a lot to offer from a historical point of view, today Szeged is one of the most beautiful cities in Hungary and is home to lots of sights and attractions.

Despite the great importance of the city, Szeged is poorly integrated into the international long-distance train network. Cross-border rail lines to Serbia (Subotica) and Romania (Arad) have been interrupted since the end of the First World War.
