Biblis is a community in South Hesse, it lies between the Rhine and Odenwald in the Hessian Ried. It consists of the districts 1 Biblis, 2 Nordheim and 3 Wattenheim.
background
Biblis became known nationwide through the 1 Biblis nuclear power plant. It was put into operation in 1974 and finally shut down in 2011. Less known, but of greater tourist interest, is the annual festival since 1953 about the Bibliser "Gummernfraa" (cucumber woman).
