Bolków(German: Bolkenhain) is a mountain town in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship between the Bober-Katzbach Mountains and the Waldenburger Bergland, Mountain ranges of the Sudeten, at the Angry Neisse. The place is the starting point for hikes. The place is officially recognized as a potential health resort. The place is on the Piast Castles Trail.

background

The place was founded before 1241. However, it was first mentioned in a document in 1276 when it received city rights. The castle already existed in 1277. In the course of the Polish Partialism, the city came to ever changing partial duchies, most recently to the Duchy of Schweidnitz-Jauer, which came under Bohemian fiefdom in 1368. The place was affected in the Hussite Wars and the Thirty Years War. In 1742/1763 the place came to Prussia. In 1890 the city was connected to the rail network. The place developed steadily, with the exception of the times of the world wars. In 1945 he came to Poland.
