The Bottwar rises in the Löwenstein mountains near the small community Prevorst. You achieved at Oberstenfeld the Neckar basin and flows into the Murr near Steinheim. The Bottwartal thus forms roughly the eastern edge of the Neckar basin. Politically, most of the Bottwartal belongs to the Ludwigsburg district.
