Grossbottwar is a city in Bottwartal in Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Großbottwar is located in the northeast of the Ludwigsburg district on the Bottwar river. The place was first mentioned in the year 779, it has been referred to as a city since 1279. In 1357 it became part of Württemberg. The place suffered badly from the aftermath of the Peasants' War, and in the Thirty Years War it lost more than half of its inhabitants.

The Bottwarbahn has been running as a narrow-gauge railway since 1896 Marbach by Großbottwar and Beilstein to Heilbronn, Today it is closed, and a cycle path runs along its route, which is part of the Alb-Neckar cycle path is.
