Freiberg am Neckar is a city in Neckar basin in Baden-Wuerttemberg.
background
In 1972 the formerly independent communities of Beihingen am Neckar, Geisingen am Neckar and Heutingsheim merged to form the community of Freiberg am Neckar. The municipality was granted city rights in 1982.
Freiberg lies in a bend in the river on the left side of the Neckar between the cities Ludwigsburg, Bietigheim-Bissingen and Marbach am Neckar.

Freiberg am Neckar belongs to the Stuttgart Transport Association (vvs.de). The scope of the VVS is divided into ring-shaped zones. The core zone 1 (Stuttgart) is the largest. Freiberg is in Zone 3. The tickets are valid for S-Bahn, regional trains, underground trains and buses. In the area of application of the VVS there are two Freibergs (district of Stuttgart) but only one Freiberg am Neckar! Train
There is an S-Bahn stop at the train station. Here the S4 line (Stuttgart Schwabstraße - Marbach or Backnang) leaves a platform every 15 minutes during the day. Stuttgart main station can be reached in approx. 22 minutes with three zones (1,2,3). When taking the S-Bahn from Stuttgart to Freiberg am Neckar, you have to be careful not to take the S3 to Backnang. Ludwigsburg can be reached in 5 minutes with two zones.
By bus
The city has a seven-line bus network. All lines go to the central "City Center, Freiberg (N)": 444, 446, 459, 564, the student buses 444A, 446A and the night bus N44. These stop at a total of 12 stops or stops on demand.
There is a short-distance bus ticket for € 0.70. The VVS short-distance tickets are valid up to the third stop after boarding. The VVS short-haul ticket usually costs € 1.30. The reduced-price short-distance bus ticket can be purchased at the Citizens' Office of the City of Freiberg and at the Freiberg travel agencies in the city center.
Citizen bus
The Freiberg Citizens' Bus runs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from the three parts of the city to the center and back again. bicycle
By bike you can get to the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart in about two hours without any hills along the Neckar. To Heilbronn it is about two hours and thirty minutes along the Neckar.
In the VVS, bicycles can be taken free of charge on trains and special buses. However, not during rush hour (Mon-Fri 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.). There are more details here.An extra offer from the SSB is the Bike tourer from May to October.
on foot
From Freiberg train station you can walk to the center in 10 minutes. The way to the center leads through the Kasteneckpark and is signposted.

Beihingen district
- The 1 Amandus Church. Laid out as a fortified church in the 16th century.
- The 2 Old Beihingen Castle
- The 3 New Beihingen Castle. Built in 1573 by Friedrich von Breitenbach, Obervogt zu Urach and son-in-law of the Beihinger landlord Ludwig zu Freyberg-Steusslingen. The castle was successively the seat of the noble families von Breitenbach, Weiler, Spiegel von Jergendorf, Göler von Ravensburg, Hallweil, Kaltenthal, Neipperg and Gemmingen-Hornberg. The latter since 1673. Today the residence of the von Graevenitz family. Outbuildings: Tithe barn from 1599, renovated in 1979 and Reiterscheuer from 1597.
- The 4 Castle press. Small concerts and performances take place regularly in the castle press. It is also used to celebrate weddings.
- 5 Kleinbottwarer Hof. Goes back to the 13th century.
- 6 Old town hall Beihingen. Today's youth center. The entrance is on Neckarstrasse.

- 9 Nikolauskirche Geisingen (late Gothic). The late Gothic St. Nicholas Church is located in Geisingen. First a chapel was built in 1474, which today serves as a choir. The main nave and tower were added in 1521 and 1522. In 1900 the tower received its current pointed roof instead of a previous hooded roof. Inside the churches are the tombs of the former local lords, the von Stammheim and Schertlin von Burtenbach families from the 16th century.
