Castellafiume is a city of Marsica, subregion ofAbruzzo.
To know
The town is located on the northernmost slope of the Nerfa valley, in the Marsica, along the course of the Liri river whose source is located a little further north in the municipality of Cappadocia.
Geographical notes
The municipal territory also includes the small hamlet of Pagliara dei Marsi located at an altitude of 1050 meters above sea level. on the slopes of Mount Girifalco.

Summer is the best time to visit Castellafiume and the summer resorts of the Val di Nerfa.
Background
The name of Castellafiume derives from Castrum fluminis, or castle on the Liri river. From 1806, the year of the abolition of the fiefdoms, Castellafiume became a fraction of the municipality of Cappadocia, but soon managed to conquer its own administrative autonomy by also aggregating the small hamlet of Pagliara dei Marsi.
