On the train
- 2 Chōfu Station. Chōfu is 15 minutes from Shinjuku (¥ 230). From Shinjuku Station, take the express (特急) or semi-special (準 特急) express train Keiō line
. Chōfu is the second stop on the express train.

How to get around
To get to Jindaiji Temple and Jindai Botanical Gardens, it is reasonable to take a bus. On the north side of the station, take bus number 34 (starting from stop 14), or numbers 05, 06, 31 or 56 (starting from stop 13). Only bus number 34 goes directly to Jindaiji Temple; the latter four stop only at "Jindaiji Iriguchi", it is a short walk to the temple. All five buses go to Jindaiji Botanical Garden, fare ¥ 210. It is 2-3 km from Jidaiji Temple station, so you can walk or take a taxi.
If you happen to be in Kichijōji or Mitaka rather than Chōfu, you can also take a bus to get to Jindaiji Temple and Jindai Botanical Garden.

- 1 Jindaiji Temple (深 大寺), Jindaiji 5-15-1, Motomachi (From the north side of the station take bus number 34 (stop 14) which leads directly to the temple, or numbers 05, 06, 31 or 56 (stop 13).), ☎ 81424-86-5511. This temple of the Tendai sect, built in 733, is almost the oldest in the Tokyo area, second only to Sensoji in Asakusa. Although the temple building itself is modest, but the village features several of food stalls, soba restaurants and waterwheels that evoke the image of the Edo period in Japan, making Jindaiji Temple a hidden gem on the outskirts of Tokyo. The temple complex houses a bronze statue of Shaka Nyorai, one of the Buddhas. The statue is said to date back to around 700 and is housed in a separate building.

9:30-16:00. There are always some flowering plants in all seasons in this large botanical garden. The park is divided into areas that feature specific plants such as plum and cherry trees; from the Japanese garden to the azalea and the English rose garden. The main gate is on the west side near the bus stop; you can also enter the gate adjacent to the Jindaiji Temple on the south side.
