The small town well worth seeing Creuzburg is lying in Werra Valley in Thuringia, 12 km northwest of Eisenach. Creuzburg is mainly known to cycle tourists, as two long-distance cycle routes come together here.

Creuzburg is on the B 7, the kassel With Eisenach connects. The short B 250 flows out to the west of the city Wanfried and Hit time in this street. The next motorway exit is the junction Symbol: AS 39a Eisenach-West on the A 4. For some time now, the B 7 has been diverted around the city. Creuzburg does not have a railway connection. The eponymous one is located above the city Creuzburg. It is essentially Romanesque and was rebuilt several times between the 16th and 18th centuries. The Creuzburg was the preferred residence of Landgravine Elisabeth of Thuringia (1207-1231).

One of the outstanding sacred buildings is the one built in 1215 Nikolaikirche in the center, which was badly destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt from 1968, and the Liborius Chapel from 1499, which is right next to the old one Werra Bridge from 1225 is located. The Werra Bridge is the oldest preserved stone bridge north of the Main.

Another church is that Gottesackerkirche, also called St. Marien, which was abandoned in the 1970s and is now used as an exhibition venue.
