The Dauner Maars are three separate maars:
- 1 Gemündener Maar
- 2 Weinfelder Maar also Totenmaar
- 3 Schalkenmehrener Maar, a double maar (western maar lake and eastern dry maar)
They are mainly located in the area of Schalkenmehren and also reach the territories of Down (Gemünden district) and Mehren.

. The Schalkenmehrener Maar is best reached from Mehren, K16; the Totenmaar is on the K15; the Gemündener Maar is not far from the Dauner "Maarstraße" in the Gemünden district.
By train and bus
- The Gemündener Maar is very easy to reach with the bus stop "Maarstraße", bus line 300 Wittlich (IC stop) -Down; the bus also runs on weekends; Bicycles can be taken on a limited basis
- From bus line 500 Gerolstein-Cochem the bus stop "Weinfelder Maar" is approached; this line also runs via Daun-ZOB and is also served on weekends. It is equipped with the "Regio-Rader" offer, which requires a reservation, and an additional system fee is required.
- Mehren is from bus 503 Down approached; this connection only exists Mon.-Fri. (not on public holidays).

The Weinfelder Maar lies 484 m above sea level and is 51 m deep. In contrast to the other maars, swimming is not allowed here and there are no restaurants.

Deserted Weinfeld
