To the 1 Dormagen train station there are regional transport connections from Cologne, Cologne / Bonn Airport, Neuss and Düsseldorf, the Ruhr area and Westphalia (RE 6), from Cologne, Neuss, Krefeld, Solingen, Hagen and Münster (RE 7) and S-Bahn connections (S 11) from Bergisch- Gladbach, Cologne and Düsseldorf.

There are several connections to Dormagen from the Neuss and Grevenbroich bus networks, including lines 873, 871, 872, and an SB 91 express bus to Cologne-Worringen, Sinnersdorf, Pulheim, Brauweiler, Cologne-Weiden West, Frechen, Hürth and Brühl.

By boat
Dormagen is with that Piwipp ship reachable, which commutes between Monheim and Dormagen. The landing stage is near Rheinfeld, at the end of Piwipperstrasse. A call line taxi drives every 30 minutes to the next stop in Rheinfeld (Am Krahnenort, lines 886 and 887). This must be ordered at least 30 minutes before departure by calling 02133 219492.

Local transport is through the City bus Dormagen GmbH operated. There are 7 bus routes (881-887), two weekend routes (WE 1 and 2) and three night express routes (NE 1-3). Tickets can be bought directly on the bus. Since Dormagen is part of the VRS and VRR transport associations, both tariffs apply here.

Zons
The so-called customs festival (to collect the Rhine toll) Zons is a former medieval city with roots in the late 11th century. The largely preserved city fortifications with their towers are particularly worth seeing. Another attraction is, next to the church, the historic windmill on the mill tower (from the year 1390, rebuilt in 1695, expanded to a Dutch mill in 1832, mill operation ceased in 1907, then partially dismantled, restored since 1966)

Knechtsteden Monastery
Knechtsteden Monastery is a Romanesque double choir basilica built 850 years ago, making it one of the most impressive sacred buildings in the country. The former Premonstratensian Abbey has been in the possession of the Spiritan Order since 1896.
Approach by car: 5 km from the A57 motorway on the left bank of the Rhine, exit Dormagen, direction Rommerskirchen, after the town of Delhoven turn right to the Knechtsteden monastery.
Directions by bus & train: Dormagen is the train station between Neuss and Cologne (S11), bus connections (line 871 towards Rommerskirchen, Sinsteden or Grevenbroich, line 883 or line WE 1 towards Broich) to (H) Knechtsteden.
