This guide covers the Cologne Bay, the southern part of the Lower Rhine Bay and the in North Rhine-Westphalia located part of the Middle Rhine Valley as well as that Siebengebirge. This region stretches on both sides of the Rhine, between Bad Honnef and Dormagen. It is considered to be one of the warmest regions in Germany.

By plane
Most important Airport is in the region Cologne-Bonn Airport(IATA: CGN). At the airport there is a long-distance and regional train station from which you can quickly get to other cities in the region (Troisdorf in 10, Cologne in 15, Bonn or Leverkusen in 30 minutes, Hürth or Kerpen in 35, Bergheim or Düren in 50 minutes) .
The even larger international one is also not far away Dusseldorf Airport(IATA: DUS). It takes half an hour to Leverkusen by Skytrain (suspension railway) and regional express, 50 minutes to Köln Hbf, and a good hour to Kerpen.
Germany's most important airport, airport Frankfurt(IATA: FRA) can be reached from Cologne by ICE in one hour and with many airlines the ICE ticket is included in the flight price or only costs a small surcharge when booking.

Lines of the S-Bahn Cologne lead to Troisdorf, Au (Sieg), Kerpen-Horrem, Düren, Dormagen, Düsseldorf Airport, Leverkusen and Essen.
Between Cologne and Bonn (including Bad Godesberg) (Hürth, Brühl, Bornheim, Alfter) as well as in some immediate suburbs of Cologne (Bergisch Gladbach, Frechen, Leverkusen) the trams also run Cologne Transport Company (KVB).
In the street
There is a dense network of motorways in Cologne Bay, but this also includes some of the most congested sections of the republic.
