The small town of Elze is located on the northern edge of the Leineberglands at the transition to the North German Plain in the metropolitan region of Hanover-Braunschweig-Göttingen-Wolfsburg.

Elze is an important transfer station in the Hildesheim area. The platforms are barrier-free. There are connections on the routes:

Wittenburg Monastery

- 2 Wittenburg Abbey Church. The Wittenburg monastery church is located a few kilometers northwest of Elze on a small hill. The late Gothic church building is the only remaining relic of an earlier monastery, later domain complex. That is named Wittenburg after the medieval castle that was in the same place.
