The Leinebergland located in Lower Saxony. It extends roughly from Friedland in Southern Lower Saxony above Goettingen, Einbeck and Alfelduntil it is at Sarstedt at the edge of Hildesheimer Börde merges into the north German lowlands. The Leinebergland is not clearly defined as a natural area, but extends over each of the rope surrounding mountain ranges.
Regions
Within the Leinebergland region there are numerous other subdivisions according to political-administrative, geological or natural criteria. The area of the region used here is intentionally very broad and thus connects the areas mentioned in various sources as part of the Leinebergland.
- The Leinegraben is a depression up to 8 km wide, in the middle of which the Leine river bed is located. The Leinegraben extends about 50 km from the Thuringian Arenshausen to Einbeck.
- The core region of Leinebergland, which has come together to represent interests in accordance with the Leader approach, includes the towns of Alfeld (Leine), Elze, Duingen, Freden (Leine), Gronau (Leine), Lamspringe, Sibbesse and Delligsen.

- Alfeld (leash) - the half-timbered town at the foot of the Seven mountains has with the one built by Walter Gropius and as a World Heritage recognized Faguswerk to offer a special sight in the Leinebergland. Alfeld also marks the northernmost border of the southern Lower Saxony region, a few kilometers north of there the Leinebergland gradually merges into the north German lowlands.

The regional train route between Alfeld (leash) and Goettingen runs from north to south through the Leinebergland on the historic route of the Hanover Southern Railway. The total distance between Hanover and Goettingen is hourly from metronome served. The railway line often runs directly along the line that meanders through the valley and allows travelers beautiful insights into the landscape of the region.
