Einbeck, the city of brewing and half-timbered art, with its well-preserved late medieval center is located in the south Lower Saxony. The former Hanseatic city is known for the "Einbecker Bier", which was the first Bock beer to be brewed here. Einbeck lies between the big cities Goettingen (in the south) and Hildesheim (in the North). Not far away in the east is the resin and west of the Solling.
background
In the 13th century, the Einbeck brewers invented the method of enriching the palatable, but at the time quickly spoiling drink with hops and making it more durable.
The half-timbered old town with the town hall with its three unusual towers and other restored houses, some of which are decorated with elaborate carvings, is particularly worth seeing. Together with the other half-timbered towns in southern Lower Saxony Duderstadt, Hann. Münden, Northeim and Osterode is considering the city of Einbeck to apply for inclusion in the UNESCO world cultural heritage program in order to both pay greater attention to the important half-timbered ensemble in the southern lower saxony To direct space, as well as to receive funding for further urgently needed renovation measures in order to prevent the increasing vacancy of buildings and shops in the city center.

The origin of the Bock beer is in Einbeck. In the Middle Ages, top-fermented beer was brewed and transported as a luxury product over long distances, even as far as Italy. To make it durable for long transport, a heavy, alcohol-rich beer was brewed. The Wittelsbacher court in Munich had the beer delivered from Einbeck until they got the idea to brew the beer themselves. In 1614 a master brewer was lured away from Einbeck, who from then on moved to the Hofbräuhaus in Munich Ainpöckisch Strong beer was brewing. In the course of time the term was used in the Munich dialect Bock beer from it.
