Holzminden is a city on the Weser in the south Lower Saxony.

Water hikers on the Weser find three mooring options in Holzminden:
- On the left bank before the Weser bridge at the campsite.
- On the right bank in front of the Weser bridge through the branch canal at the youth hostel.
- On the left bank directly after the Weser bridge at the floating jetty of the Holzminden canoe club.
By bicycle
- On the Weser cycle path from the north (i.a. Hamelin) and south (including Höxter, Bad Karlshafen and Hannoversch Münden).
- The Europe cycle route R1 meets the Weser here, coming from the east.

- Fragrant city tour: As City of scents and flavors Holzminden offers with 15 fragrance steles a fragrant tour of the city. The steles are assigned to different sights. They provide information about the sight as well as about the scent, which is part of the aromas of the large Holzminden-based fragrance company. The fragrances of the respective steles are listed below for the sights.
- Tilly house: The only house in Holzminden that was not destroyed in the Thirty Years' War, under which the region suffered greatly, and in which - according to tradition - the general Tilly is said to have lived. Thus, it joins the many buildings and sites in the region that are reminiscent of the general. As a building, it also offers something worth seeing with the Renaissance portal from 1609. However, the beams of the house could be dated even further back, roughly to around 1550. It is assumed that the location of the house dates back to earlier the castle area of Bevern found, the house was then later demolished and rebuilt in Holzminden.

Since the city is right on the Weser cycle path and is therefore located on one of the most popular long-distance cycle routes in Germany, Holzminden is a very good starting point for bike tours along the river. Mountain bikers also come to the nearby Bergland (nature park Solling-Vogler) at their expense. Lately some routes for mountain bikers have been signposted here.
The districts of Neuhaus and Silberborn in the middle of Solling are excellent starting points for hikes.
The calmly flowing Weser is ideal for canoe tours.
Every two years at Pentecost (last 2017)[1] A street theater festival takes place in Holzminden, which has meanwhile become known nationwide.
