The small town Freyburg is located on the lower reaches of the Unstrut, about 8 km north of the city center of Naumburg (Saale) and in the middle of the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region. The “gymnastics father” Friedrich Ludwig Jahn lived in the city until his death (1852).

Freyburg is with the Unstruttalbahn, which runs between Naumburg and Cheeks (unstrut) above Nebra (Unstrut) Runs every hour, to the next larger railway junction Naumburg tied up. The station is on the other side of the Unstrut.

Naumburg Cathedral
