Frosinone is a city of the Latina Valley and of the Lazio southern.

To know

Capital of the Frosinone area, it is an industrial and commercial center and an important communication hub in southern Lazio.

Geographical notes

Situated on a hill overlooking the Sacco valley (also known as the middle Latina Valley), Frosinone is surrounded by the Ernici mountains to the north and the Lepini mountains to the southeast. The historic and original core of the city is located on the hilly area.

When to go

Tourists populate the town especially in summer and, generally, during the weekends.

Background

Volscian city with the name of Frusna and then Roman as Frùsino, in the course of its history due to its position has been subject to devastation and looting and destruction due to seismic events, however it retains some important traces of its past.

In the municipal area there is the military airport named after Girolamo Moscardini, seat of the training department of the Air Force.

By car

The center is connected through the homonymous motorway exit to the A1 motorway Milan-Naples. Other important arteries are the state road 6 Via Casilina which connects Rome to Campania; the regional road 214 Maria and Isola Casamari which connects it to the Liri valley it's at Sora; the state road 156 dei Monti Lepini which leads to Latina; the state road 155 of Fiuggi which connects its territory to the Roman countryside and to Fiuggi.

The Frosinone station is served by the Rome-Cassino-Naples.
