Geographical notes
Giverny is a small French town located 80km west of Paris, in the valley of the river Seine, in Upper Normandy. The village became famous as the impressionist painter Claude Monet decided to spend the last years of his life on an estate near the village. On the estate all the canvases by cycle of water lilies, portrayed en plein air in the pond near the painter's house.

Background
Monet moved with his family to Giverny with his family, consisting of his second wife and 8 children, in 1883 and lived and painted here until his death in 1926. By car
From Paris it is possible to reach Giverny by taking the A13 motorway up to Bonnières, where it is necessary to take the D201 which runs along the Seine river, passing through Bennecourt and for about 4km of countryside before reaching Giverny. On the train
The nearest railway station is that of Vernon, reachable in about 45 minutes from the Parisian station of Gare St-Lazare. From Vernon it is possible to take a taxi, a bus or a bicycle to reach Giverny. Bus timetables are linked to train timetables and combined train and bus tickets are available at St-Lazare station [1], if you are traveling alone this is often the cheapest option
Bicycles can be hired at a bar just outside the station. The rental cost is about 12 € (the bar also provides a map) and Giverny is about 7 km away.
By bus
From Paris they depart every day except Mondays Guided tours half day for Giverny and one day for Giverny e Versailles.

Open from April to October from Monday to Sunday from 9:30 to 18:00.. The slightly eccentric, Oriental-style house contains Monet's collection of Japanese prints. There are no original Monet paintings, the real attraction is the garden with the pond, the water lilies (in season) and the Japanese bridge portrayed in many paintings. A souvenir shop has been set up attached to the house. To avoid long queues it is possible to book tickets online. Access is also allowed to people with reduced mobility.

The museum was born as a private collection in 1955 at the behest of the family Guillemard, who has lived in Giverny for generations. Former thresher and blacksmith Adolphe Guillemard passed on his love and knowledge of vintage cars to his children. Over the years the number of artifacts in the collection increased and in 1990 the collection moved to where it is today where the artifacts were put on display for the public.

What to do
- Walk in the hills around the city. If you love being outdoors and getting some exercise, the hills around the town of Giverny are just the right place for a bit of trekking. The panoramic views over Giverny and the neighboring towns of Vernon and on the Seine Valley are amazing, especially if there is no haze. Two paths start from a sign behind the town hall, which is located right on Rue Blanche Hoschedé-Monet. Before starting the walk it is advisable to make sure that you are wearing sneakers or trekking shoes and that you have water with you.
Even the neighbor 1 Forêt de Bizy. it's a good place to get some outdoors, have a picnic and get away from the often crowded Giverny.

Open, like many of the hotels in the city, from late March / early April to early November.
