Background
Gombito is an inhabited center of ancient origin that dates back to before 1055, the year in which the town (at the time called Gomedo) is mentioned in a diploma of King Henry III with whom he conferred the Fulcheria Island, the first property of the Marquis Bonifacio, in perpetual donation to the Cremonese church.
In 1420 Gombito was granted as a fief by Filippo Visconti to Cabrino Fòndulo, when he was named Marquis of Castelleone.
In 1652 it was given to the noble Ponzone family of Cremona.
In 1751 Gombito was administered by a General Council under the fief of the Marquis Sigismondo Ala Ponzone, who was awarded the title of "Lord of Gombito". The municipality, which at the time had 529 inhabitants, was subject to the jurisdiction of the feudal podestà (the Ala Ponzone) who administered justice and to that of the mayor of Cremona.
In 1796, with the abolition of feudal rights, the juridical interference of the Ala Ponzone on the territory ends.
In 1841 the municipality of Gombito and the municipality of Vinzasca were merged.
